Same words. A different way of living.
I grew up in a small town and became part of the world’s largest one-percent motorcycle club. I lived a criminal life and spent nearly ten years in prison. Those were my choices. When I came home, I had nothing and no clear direction. I had to start again, and honesty was where I started.
In prison, I wrote “Action trumps intention” above every cell door I lived behind. I read it before that door opened and before I went to sleep. Back then, those words were tied to confrontation and retaliation. Talking meant nothing. What you did was what counted.
Years later, those words would take on a different meaning.
I was raised with God, but I had walked away. I had lived through violence, close calls, and situations I still don’t know how I survived. Asking for help wasn’t something I did. But during a difficult season after rebuilding my life, I called out to God. I believe He put that request on my tongue so He could show me He was there. I believe He answered.
One night, the words came back to me: Action Over Intention. This time, I understood them through my faith. Saying I love Jesus means something only if I’m willing to follow Him—to practice honesty, turn away from old ways, and make choices that reflect what He teaches.
I haven’t got it all figured out. I’m still learning obedience and how to put God’s will ahead of my own. But He is at the forefront of my life, and I want that to show in what I do.
That’s where Action Over Intention began. I believe clothing can be a way that we can express our beliefs , start conversations, and help people find their way to God . What we wear can speak about our faith. How we live has to speak too.
